Booking a Model for a Shoot in Morocco: Brief, Budget and Image Rights

By the PP Models team · Updated 28 October 2026

Photo session in a studio

Finding a model is rarely the hard part. What makes a shoot go wrong is almost always something that was not said beforehand: the exact location, the real duration, how the images will be used. Here is how to prepare your request so the model, the team and you all agree from the start.

A brief that reads in thirty seconds

A model or an agency receives a lot of messages. Yours will be handled faster if it answers the basic questions straight away:

  • the type of project: fashion editorial, e-commerce, campaign, lookbook, social media content
  • the location and the date, or the possible dates
  • how long the model is needed: half a day, a full day, number of hours
  • the number of outfits, and whether makeup and hair are included
  • how the photos will be used: channels, duration, countries
  • your budget, or at least a range
  • your references: a link to your work

An example message: “Lookbook shoot for a ready-to-wear brand, Saturday the 14th in Casablanca, five hours on site, six outfits provided, images published on our website and Instagram for one year. Budget: X dirhams.” In three lines, everyone knows whether the project is possible.

Choosing the right profile

Look beyond the first photo. A portfolio shows how a person carries themselves, how they work with light, and whether they vary their expressions. Check the measurements and the city: a model based in Rabat for a shoot in Casablanca means a trip to plan and to include in the budget.

For a catalogue or e-commerce, look for someone who wears a garment simply and clearly, in the right size. For editorial work, look for a stronger presence. Both exist, at every level of experience.

Budget: what moves it

We do not publish a single rate card, because it would be wrong half of the time. The fee mainly depends on four things: the duration, how the images will be used (an Instagram post is not an outdoor campaign), any exclusivity you ask for, and the model's experience.

Think about extra costs before setting your budget: the model's transport, meals, makeup and hair, the location. Stating a budget in your first message saves a lot of back-and-forth.

On PP Models you do not have to negotiate alone. Your booking request reaches our team, who check the model's availability and come back to you with the conditions.

Usage rights, in writing

This is the point that is most often forgotten. A clear agreement states:

  • the channels: social media, website, print, outdoor, paid advertising
  • the duration: three months, one year, unlimited
  • the territory: Morocco, international
  • any exclusivity: can the model work for a competing brand?
  • the fee and the payment date

If you want to use the images for longer, or on a channel that was not planned, talk to the model again and adjust the fee. An exchange of emails that covers these points is enough to start with, even without a long contract.

On the day of the shoot

  • Confirm the address, the arrival time and the schedule at least 48 hours ahead.
  • Plan breaks and water, especially outdoors or in summer.
  • Tell the model in advance about outfits, props or particular scenes.
  • For a model under 18, get written permission from a parent or legal guardian, and accept their presence on set.
  • Pay as agreed, within the stated time.

A model who is respected and well informed gives you better images. That is not politeness, it is results.
